On-Page Factors

The content of a document is what decides if it’s worthy of a position in a search result. It is the content the user intends to see, so it’s immensely important to a search engine. As a result, it is paramount to create genuine and good content. This raises the question, what is genuine or good content? From the SEO outlook, all genuine and good contents showcase two attributes:

  • It needs to be linkable
  • It must fill a need

Good content will fill a need for the target market, and supply a demand. Similar to economic markets, information is also influenced by supply and demand. The best content caters to the largest demands. Good content can be in the form of a sound, text, image, video or even a Wikipedia article that explains the definition of SEO to the world. Basically, content is considered good when it fills a demand.

From an SEO point of view, the best content doesn’t make any distinction, from the worst one if it isn’t linkable on the internet. Such non-linkable content will bring in very few visitors, as search engines aren’t very likely to rank them.

Any content that either does not fill a demand or is not linkable, creates a bad impression in the eyes of users and the search engines.

Title Tag

Titles are also one of the most important aspects of the on-page factor for SEO. Titles factor in after content alone. A title can either make or ruin the reputation of your website. A good title encourages the user to go through your content. A bad one, however, can make the user just scroll down on your content and move on to some other website.

Apart from smart linking, SEOs should ensure that the categorical hierarchy of the website is showcased through the URLs. URL structure is necessary because it assists search engines to comprehend relative importance and affixes relevancy metric to the page.

  • Good –
  • Bad – bad.link.url/12/1345

In the good URL example, you can see how the website’s URL tells you where the link will take you, and what you may find there. In the bad URL example, the (fake) website has no information about the content in the URL.

SEO Best Practice

Content pages are the important parts of a website. Being the meat of the site, they constitute for the main reasons why visitors would come to a site. Ideal pages should be precise and specific to the given topic. The motive of the web page should absolutely be stated in all the given fields:

  • Title tag
